Description
Before embarking on our walk, we will admire the Santuario del Carmine, with its richness of spirituality and history and then head towards the historic centre of San Felice del Benaco.
Our route passes the Monte di Pietà palace, the parish church dedicated to Saints Felice and Adauto, and the historical cemetery, containing the remains of the ancient tower and a 14th-century church.
We will walk along the ancient walls of the village along cycle paths that wind through the olive groves and offer unique views of Lake Garda. We will then reach an oil mill that harvests all the olives in the area to produce the renowned Garda olive oil.
We will move on to the San Fermo peninsula, embellished by the little church of the same name and the remains of an ancient castle. From the top of the peninsula you will be able to admire the magnificent Garda Island, the only inhabited one on the entire lake.
Leaving the promontory, one descends to the harbour, which while having become popular with tourists, still houses the boats of some locals engaged in fishing for sardines, whitefish and perch.
Going up from the harbour to the centre of the village, we will not forget to turn our gaze once again to Lake Garda: from there the view opens up to 360° over the Rocca di Manerba Nature Reserve.
