Intaglio printmaking course in an art studio in the hinterland of Lake Garda

A creative workshop to introduce you to the original technique of chalcographic engraving: starting from a theoretical knowledge of the art of engraving, you will delve into manual skills to experiment with specific materials and technical tools, immersed in the eclectic and stimulating context of an art studio. Your hosts, Maria Luisa and Salvatore, professional artists with various collaborations on the international scene, will welcome you into their finely restored studio.

The experience kicks off with a brief explanation of the tools and equipment needed to perform the work, first and foremost a copper or zinc plate, on which the aspiring engravers will produce their work using the main engraving techniques: dry tip, etching and aquatint. You may decide to represent your own image or you will be provided with drawings to reproduce. Once the preparation of the matrix is complete, you will move on to the printing process: the use of traditional techniques and the choice of fine papers will give your artefacts a timeless appeal. At the end of the session you will have the satisfaction of taking home an artwork entirely created by you.

Before or after the workshop, the medieval village of Ponti sul Mincio, which hosts the illustration studio, is also worth a stroll: located in the first hinterland of Peschiera del Garda, it was awarded the Orange Flag for its historical and cultural heritage and the characteristic atmosphere that one can breathe among the historic streets of the village.
